MDA-5 antibodies have been observed in 19% to 35% of patients with Dermatomyositis (DM). Patients with anti-MDA5 antibodies are more likely to have absent or mild muscle disease but are at increased risk for rapidly progressive Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD).
